Don't women make a choice to be in porn?

Women, especially young girls, are never properly informed to be able to make a wise choice to enter porn. Pornograpy is so hidden that not even movies or the media depict the dark side of porn or the consequences involved. Schools and churches do not educate young people about the porn industry. Parents don't talk to their children about the porn industry. How then are women able to make an informed choice about being in porn? The only education young women receive about the porn industry is FROM the porn industry where glamour, fame and fortune is promised when in reality the only promise the porn industry should be making to young women are sexually transmitted diseases, illegal and hazardous work conditions, drugs and alcohol addiction, threats to physically hurt them, coercion to sign contracts they aren't even educated enough to read or understand, threats for non-payment when they ruin scenes for things like crying or vomiting, the physical toll porn takes on their bodies, and the regret of having their movies posted on the internet for a life time where family members and friends may find them. What is the definition of pornography and what is the porn industry?

We will attempt to define pornography although it's a very difficult and controversial task.

According to Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary the definition of pornography is:

1 : the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement

2 : material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement

3 : the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction

What is "erotic behavior"?

According to Merriam-Webeter Online Dictionary erotic behavior is:

1 : of, devoted to, or tending to arouse sexual love or desire

So, pornography is any depiction of acts or material such as books, photographs, writing, or films that is devoted to causing sexual desire or intended to sexually arouse.

Thus, the pornography industry would include any company or individual depticting acts of erotic behavior or creating material such as books, photographs, writing or films that is devoted to causing sexual arousal in others for $$$money. This would include Playboy, Hustler, Penthouse as well as adult film companies, strip clubs and escort agencies. Yes, Playboy is pornography. If it's a depicted act of erotic behavor or material intended to cause sexual arousal in others, it's porn.

Often times we meet bikini models, fetish models, strippers or Playboy models and they do not believe they are making "porn" but we lovingly and gently share with them what the definition of pornography is because we want to make them aware they are contributing to the same porn industry (aka the adult industry) that is operating illegally and hurting men and women daily.

For more information about how the porn industry is operating illegally you may visit the Division of Occupational Safety and Health web site where you may read about the California Occupational Safety and Health Act. Please note this important paragraph:

"The bloodborne pathogens standard requires employers to use feasible engineering and work practice controls to protect workers from coming into contact with blood or other disease-carrying body fluids (referred to in the standard as "other potentially infectious material", or "OPIM"). Semen and vaginal fluid are always considered OPIM. Any other body fluid is considered OPIM if it’s visibly contaminated with blood. Saliva is considered OPIM in connection with dental procedures because these procedures routinely cause saliva to be contaminated with blood.

The kind of contact prohibited by the standard is contact between skin or mucous membranes and blood or OPIM."

Obviously the porn industry breaks the law every time they create photographs or films where workers come into contact with bodily fluids. This happens every day in the porn industry and this is why many workers are infected with STDs and later develop cancer or other reproductive organ damage.

Other ways the porn industry (aka adult industry) breaks laws is through illegal bodily contact between customers and strippers in strip clubs, prostitution in strip clubs, prostitution in massage parlors, adult book stores where bodily fluids are present, escort agencies where prostitution is occuring, etc... except in the state of Nevada where certain areas are legally designated for prostitution.

Here's one of the best definitions we've read by radical feminist Helen Longino:

"I define pornography as verbal or pictoral explicit representations of sexual behavior that, in the words of the Commission on Obscenity and Pornography, have as a distinguishing characteristic 'the degrading and demeaning portrayal of the role and status of the human female . . . as a mere sexual object to be exploited and manipulated sexually."

We want to take it a step further. If women or men are being viewed as sex objects and it is an intended depicted act of erotic behavior or material to cause sexual arousal in others, it's porn.
