Out of about 2,000 performers working in the porn industry located in the San Fernando Valley, California, 207 porn stars that we know of died from AIDS, suicide, homicide, drugs and premature deaths between 2003 and 2014.

No other industry has these kinds of statistics, not even the music industry which is at least 10 times bigger than the porn industry. (Read my book for more statistics or click here for over 400 dead porn stars bios and obituaries.)

When the deaths of 207 porn performers years were analyzed it was discovered that were an unusually large number of premature deaths from such causes as drugs, suicide, murder, alcohol abuse, accidental death, and disease. It was also discovered that the average life expectancy of a porn performer is only 36.2 years whereas the average life expectancy of an American is 78.6 years.

Pornography is big ugly business.

It is estimated that there are 4.2 million porn Web sites — 12 percent of the total amount of sites — allowing access to 72 million worldwide visitors monthly. One-quarter of total daily search engine requests, or 68 million, are for pornographic material, where 40 million Americans are regular visitors.

Chatsworth, California produces 85% of the world’s adult content. All of the top female talent agencies are located in or with in the Chatsworth local radius. Female performers are flown or fly to Chatsworth to work in the adult industry. All of the world’s top male talents live or travel to Chatsworth California for work. Almost every major and minor adult DVD Company is in the local Chatsworth radius.

The United States adult film industry produces 4,000–11,000 films a year and earns an estimated $9–$13 billion in gross revenues annually. An estimated 200 production companies employ 1,200–1,500 performers. Performers typically earn $400–$1,000 per shoot and are not compensated based on distribution or sales.

STDs

Sexually transmitted diseases are highly prevalent in the pornography industry. Los Angeles Public Health Department reports that Chlamydia and Gonorrhea infections among performers are 10X greater than that of LA County 20-24 year olds. They conclude that risk and burden of sexually transmitted infections among porn performers are unacceptably high. Dr. Sharon Mitchell, former porn actress and founder of Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) confirms the STD prevalence in an interview with Court TV where she states “66% of porn performers have Herpes, 12-28% have sexually transmitted diseases and 7% have HIV. It is NOT a law to be tested for STD's in the porn industry. The industry volunteers to do monthly testing of HIV, Chlamydia and gonorrhea and porn performers pay for their own testing. Due to tests becoming unreliable after having multiple partners on and off the porn set, sexually transmitted diseases are rampant in the porn industry.

Porn stars also have a lot to say about STDs, Drugs, Deaths, Abuse and more. They want to talk to porn consumers. Click here to learn how.
